There is one tactic that is relatively glitchy on consoles, haven't tried it on Mac or PC yet, but it's the jump attacking. In a good 2D game, the jump attack consists of the player's character holding their weapon down until they strike an enemy. However, Rogue Legacy has a glitchy and really stupid jump attack system. The animation where you can perform a jump attack is about 0.4 seconds, about as much time as a dodge roll I-Frame period in Dark Souls 2. So when jump attacking, the game either doesn't count the attack as a jump attack, or it just doesn't work.
Just plain flawed mechanic here.
